As always, we shall see. Here's hoping. I enjoyed the article. Nice work.

"if comments by a number of developers during Citizencon were accurate, then this would mean that SC now has 1-300 more fully focused game staff"

Did you mean 100-300? Or does that imply there is potentially a single new guy on the SC team doing all the hard work

Expand full comment

Its actually huge that they got a new guy on the SC team, maybe with another $100mil we can get 2

Please remove the SC 1.0 in 2025, everybody knows its impossible and u are setting totally unrealistic expectations. Name it BETA, at least would be a bit more believable..

When we are in 2026 and SC 1.0 is not there yet, refundians will say that CIG delayed it acting like this was an official source, just like they did with the fake screenshot of the roadmap showing Pyro Q4.2020 that again, was just a roadmap edit and was never officially in the roadmap.

Many thanks in advance

I am using the exact verbiage from internal documents. It would be inaccurate to lessen that language.

can we get pdfs of internal documents with identifying details blacked out?

lol, the most important thing here is for people to fully read this...then read it again.

Then, to read it again. Why? People don't really read.

Thanks for sharing this. For me, the very assertion of any attempt at a "1.0," if real, produces authentic change and differing outcomes at CIG. Of course, being entirely outside the entity, I'm prepared to be entirely wrong...my wife says I'm wrong on average seven times a day, so nothing new there.

But the management narrative is also, in my broad experience, self-evident, or was, particularly across the barren periods of the last two years. It gets to where, at my age, you can see certain things and understand or guesstimate well what's happening culturally/internally. Nonetheless, whatever has gone down for individuals, groups, teams and divisions (not to mention the C-Suite), those who are still there went through that crucible together...making outcomes like CitizenCon potential vindications for some, and a retrenchment of grievance for others.

I also imagine that the five systems are Stanton, Pyro, Magnus, Terra and Nyx. Which would be a dope economy/quanta/gameplay set of loops. REMEMBER ANTHONY TANAKA!

Stanton, Pyro, Odin, Terra and Nyx

Nah, we already have Magnus as a jump point in Stanton. I'm guessing the jump points in stanton plus stanton are the 5 on release.

Honestly, have you ever worked in a big company. This just describes the typical issues you encounter in big companies.... Because that's how monkey humans works.

Don't miss interpret me, I think the game is 2 years late too and if they don't get SQ42 in 2024 I will ask for a refund. However be honest... There is no other Fuck ming game that provides the sensation and mechanics you see in star citizen. Starfield, Elite dangerous, no man sky... Damn.

So, for a company that suffers the same human problems you encounter in other companies, they have already achieved something incredible. ... Dude Ubisoft has thousands of studios and dec teams, yet they copy paste they games each year. EA is worst, and Bethesda is still in 2000...

I mean, maybe this is a scam, but I rather pay 40€ for a starter pack and spend thousands of hours with friends in a bugged game, than spend 70€ to play 10h in a boring and also bugged Starfield.
